Sharing the document on social media platform ‘X’, Bharadwaj expressed his apprehensions, stating, “In Sanjay Singh’s case, among the lawyers representing ED is BJP candidate and spokesperson Bansuri Swaraj. I had said yesterday itself that BJP and ED are the same thing.”
However, advocate Zoheb Hossain, representing the central probe agency, clarified in the Supreme Court that Bansuri Swaraj’s inclusion in the list of lawyers was an inadvertent mistake. Sanjay Singh was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.

The Supreme Court, upon hearing the matter, directed the removal of Bansuri Swaraj’s name from its order granting bail to AAP leader Sanjay Singh after the ED acknowledged the inclusion as an “inadvertent error.”
Reacting to the developments, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri from the BJP stated, “He got bail and the ED did not oppose it. This shows the independence of our judiciary. This is the speciality of our democracy. The courts are independent.”

ED counsel Zoheb Hossain clarified before the Supreme Court that Bansuri Swaraj neither appeared in the case nor represented the agency. AAP’s concerns stemmed from Bansuri Swaraj’s name being erroneously listed among the ED’s lawyers, sparking speculations of political involvement in the investigation.
The BJP’s stance emphasizes the independence of the judiciary, citing Singh’s bail approval without opposition from the ED as evidence. The Supreme Court’s intervention addressed the inadvertent inclusion, providing clarity on Bansuri Swaraj’s non-involvement in the legal proceedings.
