CHANDIGARH: It’s celebration time for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) post a sizeable win in the local civic election in Union Territory of Chandigarh. AAP emerged the the single largest party in these elections bagging 14 seats. The party members took out a victory march in City Beautiful on Thursday to celebrate their win.
The Vijay Yatra was led by Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab AAP chief Bhagwant Mann and Punjab affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha.
Kejriwal’s Vijay Yatra started from Aroma Chowk in Sector 22 and ended in Sector 23, and a large number of AAP supporters thronged to have a glimpse of Kejriwal.
Kejriwal said, “I heartily thank every citizen here for this resounding victory of AAP and promise that we will never let that trust be broken. The love that Chandigarh residents have given, we will never let it go and will live up to all the expectations.”
In his address, he told the elected councillors of ‘AAP’ that it was not so easy to defeat the BJP and Congress, which have been in Chandigarh for a long time and the country’s oldest parties. But after defeating them, now their responsibility has increased, and work will have to be done keeping the trust shown by the people.
Kejriwal said that the city of Chandigarh must be given back the tag of ‘City Beautiful’ and make it the most beautiful city in the country.
