NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devendra Yadav while speaking to The New Indian said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was responsible for the deaths of three students who drowned to death in the basement of Rau’s Academy Circle.
Yadav, along with a delegation of DPCC, went to meet students of UPSC who were protesting near Rau’s Academy. “AAP is very much responsible for this because they are in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) as well as in the Delhi assembly. It took 15 years to develop Rajendra Nagar, but they (AAP) polluted it. This is a clear case of murder,” Yadav said.
He further said that AAP leader Atishi should also be held responsible. “Why should AAP leader Atishi not be held responsible for overlooking such a lapse? Why drainage and sewer were not cleaned,” he questioned.

Yadav said that lapses occurred during the construction of this building and licenses were still issued. He further reiterated that four days ago another student died but the authorities didn’t take any precautions.

Yadav also said that AAP and BJP are putting blame on each other instead of solving the issue. He added that BJP and AAP leaders should sit with the agitating students and should assure them that they would take action against corrupt officials.

Three students lost their lives in the incident. They were prepping for the UPSC exam and were students of Rau’s Academy. On Saturday evening the capital witnessed heavy rain which led to huge water logging. The students were inside the basement of the Rau’s Academy. Water filled in the basement and three students drowned to death.
The police have lodged an FIR in this connection and are looking into the matter. The students also staged a protest in the Rajendra Nagar area demanding the suspension of MCD officials and a CBI inquiry.
AAP has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. Congress and BJP have blamed AAP for the incident.
