Aamir Posts Another Apology Video; Deletes It After Trolling

A tweet from the account of Aamir Khan Productions, which was later deleted, went viral on social media platforms. The tweet contained a video which began with the words, ‘Michami Dukkadam’, which means ‘may all my improper actions be forgiven’.

The text in the video was accompanied by a voiceover with the theme of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ playing in the background. “All of us are human beings and we only make mistakes. Sometimes through our words and sometimes by our actions, at times we do it without knowing and at times when we are angry,” the text read.

It added: “We also hurt people with our jokes and sometimes without talking. If I have hurt your feelings in any way ever then I ask for your forgiveness with my heart, promise and being.”

The video is seen as another apology by the actor Aamir Khan, whose recent movie ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ bombed at the box office. The movie was boycotted by a section of people which adversely affected its business. There were also feverish social media campaigns asking people not to watch ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in theatres.

In an interview in 2015, Aamir revealed that his then-wife, Kiran Rao, wanted to leave India because of growing ‘intolerance’ in the country. His statement back then caused a stir and a host of people lambasted him for being ‘anti-India’. Many of those still haven’t forgiven him.

However, before the release of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, Aamir clarified that he loves India and urged people to watch his film. “I feel sad about these boycott calls because a lot of people who are saying this believe I am someone who doesn’t like India. In their hearts, they believe that, and it’s quite untrue. It is rather unfortunate if some people feel that way. I really love the country. I want to assure everyone that it’s not the case, so please don’t boycott my films, please watch my films,” he said.

But his pleas fell on deaf ears as ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, the remake of the Hollywood movie ‘Forrest Gump’, bit the dust at the turnstiles.
