Accused Aaftab Amin met Shraddha through dating app Bumble.

Aaftab Amin Poonawala, accused in the murder of Shraddha Walkar will have to first undertake the polygraph test before Narco analysis to unearth the whole act of crime, said Delhi Police sources on Tuesday.

The police said the investigators also got four more days of custody of Aaftab on Tuesday. He will also be taken to some locations including the pond in Maidan Garhi where he is disclosed to have dumped the head of Shraddha.

During the court hearing, Aatab told the magistrate that he killed Shraddha in a “fit of rage”. He also informed the court that he is “cooperating” with the investigators.

The police sources said both the tests – Polygraph and Narco – are likely to take place in the coming days at Delhi’s Forensic Science Laboratory and Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar Hospital.

Polygraph test is also called a lie detector test where it is ascertained whether the accused is telling the truth or not. It is device driven exercise where several physiological indicators like blood pressure, pulse and respiration are recorded during the series of questions.

Narco test will be conducted to reveal the sequence of the incident. Aaftab will be injected with a serum called sodium pentothal. This chemical sedates the accused through which he gets neutralised and is believed to speak the truth.

According to police sources, during interrogation, Aaftab is constantly changing statements due to which the investigators were facing challenges. “Both the tests will help the investigators in the collection of evidence against Aaftab,” said a police officer adding, “the court has given the permission for both the tests.”

On Tuesday, Aaftab was produced before the Saket court where police told the court that they want to collect evidence against the accused. He will have to be taken to the Maidan Garhi’s pond where he is revealed to dump the head of Shraddha. Earlier, Aaftab remained in 10 days of custody which ended on Tuesday.

Police sources said some more parts of bones including broken jaws have been recovered from Chattarpur jungle. All of these parts have been sent for forensic examination and DNA tests.

At least four different teams of Delhi Police are camping in Maharashtra, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh where Shraddha and Aaftab stayed and spent their time together.

The police during the course of investigations have found that Aaftab was also a drug addict. During their stay in Himachal Pradesh they went to a village which is known for farming of hashish. It has been said that Aaftab was also in touch with some of the drug peddlers, though police have not questioned any of them so far.
