A labourer hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Unao district, met a tragic end in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, as he fell victim to a terrorist attack.
SRINAGAR: In a shocking and brutal incident, a labourer hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Unao district, met a tragic end in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, as he fell victim to a terrorist attack recently.
The victim, identified as Mukesh Kumar, had been residing in South Kashmir and working at a local brick kiln, in pursuit of a livelihood. His life took a tragic turn when he ventured to a nearby shop to make routine purchases on Monday.
It was there, in a distressing turn of events, that terrorists confronted him, taking his life at point-blank range. Reports indicate that a volley of three bullets was mercilessly discharged, targeting his chest and head, leaving no chance for survival.
This harrowing attack occurred just a day after another shocking act of violence, in which a Sub Inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was critically injured during a terrorist attack in the Eidgah area of Srinagar.
Expressing his outrage over the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha denounced the act of terror as “cowardly” and assured that the perpetrators would not evade justice.
“I strongly condemn the despicable and cowardly terrorist attack in Pulwama. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Mukesh Kumar. We are firmly resolved to eliminate the terrorist menace that continues to receive encouragement and reinforcement from across the border,” Sinha told The New Indian.
In response to these grave developments, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, expressed his confidence in the police force’s ability to identify and apprehend those responsible for both Monday’s attack and the previous day’s assault on the Sub Inspector.
He affirmed, “We will not spare those behind the attack. The neighbouring country doesn’t like peace here in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the persisting security challenges in the region and the urgency to combat terrorism effectively. The authorities remain resolute in their determination to bring those responsible for these acts of violence to justice and to ensure a safer environment for residents and non-locals in the region.
