The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) has started a preliminary enquiry (PE) in financial irregularities suspected in renovation of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of political vendetta after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated a preliminary enquiry (PE) into alleged financial irregularities in the renovation of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.

In a statement on Wednesday, AAP said that the BJP has put in all its efforts to eliminate the Aam Aadmi Party but the work to provide access to quality healthcare and education will continue.

“So far, more than 50 cases have been filed against him, and investigations have been carried out. Nothing was found in any of them,” the statement read.

AAP alleged that the BJP’s actions are a clear attempt to hinder their work in improving education and healthcare facilities in Delhi. They assert that the arrest of Delhi’s education minister, Manish Sisodia, and health minister, Satyendar Jain, illustrates the BJP’s determination to impede their progress.

“Despite the mounting pressure and investigations, Arvind Kejriwal remains resolute in his commitment to serve the common people and lead India towards becoming a global leader,” AAP said, adding that no matter how many inquiries are conducted, Kejriwal’s dedication to the welfare of the masses remains unwavering.

AAP also claimed that the Central government wants to restrain Delhi CM “using all agencies”. The BJP has not yet responded to AAP’s allegations.

The CBI probe into Kejriwal’s residence renovation is the latest in a series of investigations against the AAP leader. In August, the CBI filed a chargesheet against Sisodia in a case related to the alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. Jain is currently in jail in a money laundering case.
