NEW DELHI: Home ministry has imposed the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in eight districts of Nagaland over a period of six months on Tuesday.

Moreover, areas under 21 other police stations in five other districts have also had AFSPA imposed upon them as Manipur faces another period of unrest as a picture surfaces of two dead Meitei school students, who had presumed to have gone missing in July.

As of now, the districts of Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek and Peren districts have had AFSPA imposed upon them. Parts of the Naga state capital Kohima have also been brought under the jurisdiction of AFSPA.

As of now, further review of the law and order situation in the northeastern state have been undertaken.
