On Friday, Google celebrated the birth of designer, inventor and artist Altina Schinasi's birthday 

She is famous for her popular Harlequin or Cat Eye glass frames 

She got the idea for the glass frame in Italy's Carnevale festival where she noticed people wearing Harlequin mask 

Many manufactures rejected her design but a local shop finally accepted it

Throughout her career, she has patented many inventions and produced documentaries too 

Today, almost 100 years after its inception, Altina’s cat-eye design continues its influence in fashion accessory trends worldwide
