Shaista Parveen's gangster husband Atiq Ahmed was killed in police custody by three shooters in Prayagraj last month.

NEW DELHI: Intensifying the search for slain gangster Atiq Ahmed’s wife, the Uttar Pradesh Police have issued lookout notices against fugitive Shaista Parveen, shooter Guddu Muslim and another accomplice Sabir.

The police have been on the lookout for Shaista and Guddu for more than two months following the daylight murder of Umesh Pal in Prayagraj in February this year. Despite police efforts, the accused have successfully evaded capture, raising concerns that they may attempt to flee the country.

Authorities have taken action to prevent the accused from traveling abroad by disseminating their details and photographs to all airports and international borders. The lookout notice, issued for a period of one year, serves as a precautionary measure to thwart their escape.

In case any of them attempt to leave India, an alert will be triggered, enabling Prayagraj Police to take prompt action.

The UP Police had previously increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of Shaista Parveen to ₹5 lakh, with an additional reward of ₹50,000 for her capture. Raids have been conducted, and search operations continue in Prayagraj and nearby areas. However, the elusive fugitives remain at large.

Shaista Parveen, who has been designated as a ‘mafia’ by Prayagraj Police, faces charges in multiple cases, including the murder of Umesh Pal and five counts of forgery and cheating. In an attempt to evade capture, Parveen has discontinued the use of mobile phones and frequently changes her location, according to the police.

Shaista’s journey into the world of crimes stands in stark contrast to her upbringing in a modest family. Born into a policeman’s family in Damupur village, Prayagraj, she was the eldest of six siblings. Her father, Mohammed Haroon, a police constable, had expected her to lead a life away from controversy.

However, circumstances took a different turn, and Shaista now finds herself entangled in a web of criminal cases following the tragic deaths of her husband and son. While Atiq was killed by three shooters in police custody in Prayagraj, her son Asad lost his life in an encounter with police in Banda district.
