UP CM Yogi Adityanath instructed police department to utilise cyber cells that have been established at the zonal and district levels for swift action
Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the need to combat cybercrime and corruption by effectively using district-level cyber cells during a review meeting with senior police officials in Lucknow on Wednesday.
CM Yogi Adityanath conducted a review of the police department’s Cybercrime, Vigilance Establishment and State Special Research teams at his official residence in the state capital. During the review, he stressed the importance of effective measures to control and prevent cybercrime in the state.
To combat cybercrime, CM Yogi Adityanath instructed the police department to utilise the cyber cells that have been established at the zone and district levels, and the cyber help desks at all police stations for swift action.
The CM also emphasised the need for coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the use of various portals such as CYTRAIN and CCPWC for the effective management of cybercrime cases. He stressed the need for training police personnel to raise awareness among the public about cybercrimes and their prevention.
In his commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, CM Yogi Adityanath instructed the State Special Research Team and Vigilance Establishment to expedite pending investigations and provide monthly updates to the Chief Minister’s Office on the progress of these investigations.
He also emphasised the importance of taking strict action against those involved in corruption after thorough investigation and equipping investigating agencies with modern technical knowledge, infrastructure and logistics support.
To strengthen the state’s law and order and security systems, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken significant steps in recent years. The state government has established cybercrime stations at the zone level and women cyber help desks at regional police stations. The Cyber Helpline is operational 24×7, and the Cyber Safe portal has been effective in taking action against cybercrimes.
Additionally, the state government conducts Cyber Awareness Day on the first Wednesday of every month and utilises various social media platforms to raise awareness among the public. A large-scale cyber awareness program was also organised throughout the state as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
