Phonepe forays into local commerce with Pincode app on ONDC network

PhonePe, which is backed by Walmart, has entered the local commerce market by launching its Pincode app on the ONDC platform.

The app will initially be available in Bangalore, with plans to expand to other cities once it achieves a daily transaction volume of around 10,000.

The founder and CEO of PhonePe, Sameer Nigam, stated that Pincode is a new shopping app that focuses on stores and aims to achieve a transaction volume of 100,000 per day by December.

Nigam also mentioned that this is the second consumer app launched by PhonePe in about seven years.
