New Zealand vs Sri Lanka: Kane Williamson scored his 6th double hundred in Test cricket

Kane Williamson scored his 6th double hundred in Test cricket during the second Test match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

He scored 215 runs off 296 balls and equalled the record of Marvan Atapattu, Virender Sehwag, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Ricky Ponting, and Javed Miandad for the most double hundreds in Test cricket.

However, the record for the most double hundreds in Tests is still held by Don Bradman. Williamson's innings included 23 fours and two sixes and he played at a strike-rate of 72.63.

He was involved in a partnership of 363 with Henry Nicholls, who also scored a century.

Williamson got out while attempting to hit spinner Prabath Jayasuriya down the ground, but was caught by substitute fielder Ramesh Mendis at long on.

His innings is his fourth-highest score in Test cricket after 251, 242 not out, and 238 against West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.
