Kiran Patel, who posed as fake PMO official, managed to get security from the J&K Police.

In a dramatic event, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a man from Gujarat who impersonated himself as Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) in the Prime Minister’s Office by forged means in Srinagar.

As per a local news agency, after getting specific information, top officers of the Jammu and Kashmir police promptly acted and arrested the man in Srinagar. The man was identified as Kiran Patel.

According to an FIR, registered by Srinagar police at Police Station Nishat, a fraudster, Kiran Bhai Patel, has engaged in criminal activities in various parts of Kashmir through forged means. “Kiran bhai has impersonated himself as a senior government official of India,” the FIR stated.

Patel, through cheating, forgery and impersonation, has duped gullible people, under a well-knit plan, to secure monetary as well as material benefits.

As per reports, Patel, who by forged means was able to get security from the Jammu and Kashmir police, was staying at the five-star Hotel Lalit in Room No. 1107. The ‘fraudster’ had visited multiple places in Kashmir, including Doodhpathri in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. At Doodhpathri, the ‘fraudster’ was accompanied by an SDM rank officer. If sources are to be believed, Patel also met at least two Deputy Commissioners during his visit to the valley.

On Thursday, a local court in Srinagar sent Patel to judicial custody.

Patel, as per the FIR, has been booked under sections 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigation into the matter is going on.
