CM Sukhu holds meeting with MLAs of Chamba, Shimla and Lahaul-Spiti and discuss their proposals

Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held detailed discussions on the proposals of MLAs of Chamba, Shimla and Lahaul-Spiti on the third day of the MLAs Preference Meeting in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on February 3.

CM Sukhu said, “The present government has released ₹900 crores for the smooth running of ‘Sahara’ and ‘Himcare’ schemes. He said that the state government would become a helping hand to helpless people with these schemes.”

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on development works related to the constituencies of MLAs, CM welcomed the proposals from MLAs.

CM Sukhu said, “I have not become CM for power but to change the system. Strict decisions will be taken to bring about a change in the system.”

CM Sukhu instructed the Jal Shakti Department to explore the possibility of laying anti-freeze pipes to provide a year-long water facility to the people living in tribal and heavy snowfall areas.

He also asked to study the latest technology of the District Rural Development Agency to provide water facilities throughout the year by constructing chamber boxes and tanks along with anti-freeze pipes.

CM Sukhu also spoke about the government’s efforts to curb drug abuse in the state, “The government is working with a strong will to curb the drug menace in the state. Dedicated staff will be deployed to monitor and prevent drug peddlers.”

MLA Hansraj from the Churah constituency assured the government of the opposition’s positive support. He also proposed better connectivity in his constituency by building ropeways. He also urged CM Sukhu to connect Chamba to a helitaxi.

Dr Janakraj, MLA from Bharmour constituency, proposed two power projects of 5 MW each in the Pangi Valley and the construction of the Holi-Uthrala road.

MLA Neeraj Nayyar from the Chamba constituency proposed to set up a drinking water scheme of ₹8 crore for the medical college as well as parking and a mini secretariat in the city.

Dalhousie MLA DS Thakur has urged the Saluni hospital’s construction to be expedited. He proposed to strengthen the infrastructure for tourists in the region, including Dalhousie in Smart City and to build a new bus station.

Ravi Thakur, MLA from Lahaul-Spiti, urged for a permanent solution to the problem of water in the area and the expansion of health facilities. Thakur also proposed to start classes at Udaipur Polytechnic College.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Bacta, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Finance Secretary Akshay Sood, Planning Advisor Dr Basu Sood, Heads of Departments, Deputy Commissioners and SPs.
