Ending all speculations about newly elected Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the party’s national convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal called on all of them at his house and extended his best wishes for their upcoming tenure on Wednesday evening.
The five AAP MLAs are Chaitarbhai Damjibhai Vasava from Dediapada, Makwana Umeshbhai Naranbhai from Botad, Ahir Hemantbhai Hardasbhai from Jamjodhpur, Bhupendrbhai Gandhubhai Bhayani from Visavadar and Sudhirbhai Vaghani from Gariadhar.

Kejriwal after meeting with them also tweeted : “Met with the newly elected AAP MLAs from Gujarat. I extend my best wishes to them for a successful tenure as they will tirelessly serve the people of Gujarat.”
Hours after the victory of five AAP candidates in the assembly elections on December 8, there were rumours about the joining of all these MLAs to the BJP. In Gujarat assembly elections, BJP has got a landslide victory with 156 seats out of 182 state assembly houses in the state.
On December 10, Bhupendrbhai Gandhubhai Bhayani from Visavadar was in fact about to join the BJP. However, he later changed the plan citing the reason for not being fully prepared then. It was said that if he joined the BJP before taking oath, it could come within the ambit of anti – defection law.
Bhayani, held a presser and said that he would ask the people of his constituency and later take the decision of joining the BJP. He also praised Modi and Amit Shah for BJP’s landslide victory in the assembly elections.
Later, it was said all other four AAP MLAs may join the BJP. Party leader Durgesh Pathak while giving an interview with The New Indian refuted the news of joining any of the AAP’s MLAs to the BJP in Gujarat.
