Vivek Agnihotri apologised to the court for reprimanding the decision of Delhi High Court judge Justice S Muralidhar in granting relief to activist Gautam Navlakha in the Bhima Koregaon violence case.

Vivek Agnihotri had tweeted that the judge was biassed for his association with Mr Navlakha's family.

The tweet was written October 2018 after a division bench led by Justice S Muralidhar disallowed the house arrest of Gautam Navlakha in the Bhima Koregaon case.

Agnihotri has now deleted the tweet in question.

Agnihotri was amongst others like writer Anand Ranganathan, and news portal Swarajya for making such remarks against Justice S Muralidhar, who is at present the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

The last hearing of the court was on March 16 and the court asked Vivek Agnihotri to be present in person.

But Agnihotri has submitted an apology in an affidavit to the court through his lawyer.

Justice S Muralidhar had quashed the demand of Navlakha, 70, house arrest after the 2018 Bhima Koregaon protest. But he was later arrested in 2020 for alleged inflammatory speeches made at the 'Elgar Parishad' conclave held in Pune on December 31, 2017.
