The statue of Air Vice Marshal Chandan Singh was unveiled on Saturday in Jodhpur for his bravery in carrying out an air strike in Pakistan during the 1971 war.

AVM Chandan Singh entered East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and carried out an air strike

He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, the second highest honour in the defence sector.

He conducted the Sylhet airlift of a large number of troops in Sylhet and Dhaka. His helicopter came under heavy ground fire but he achieved objective.

He had played an important role in making Bangladesh separate from Pakistan.

At that time, he trained Behind Enemy Line Strike to take on Pakistan.
