Akhilesh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav (MLA from Jaswantnagar) organised a public meeting ahead of Mainpuri Lok Sabha bye-election on November 30 at Bhartiya Kothi of Takha block in Etawah district.

In more proof of growing warmth between Shivpal Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav, the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia founder Shivpal Singh Yadav founder on Wednesday asked people to call the Samajwadi Party chief as Chhote Netaji as they used to call party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav as Netaji.

Addressing an election rally in Jaswant Nagar in Mainpuri parliamentary constituency, Shivpal Yadav said, “You (Akhilesh) said in Karhal that there is no leader like Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav). I want to say that people of Mainpuri and Saifai used to call him bade mantri (senior minister) and I was called chhote mantri (junior minister). Now I want you all to call Akhilesh as Chhote Netaji.”

Akhilesh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav (MLA from Jaswantnagar) organised a public meeting ahead of Mainpuri Lok Sabha bye-election on November 30 at Bhartiya Kothi of Takha block in Etawah district.

Janta Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi also joined the Yadav leader on stage and showed support to Samajwadi Party.Shivpal Yadav addressed the public rally and asked for huge votes in favour of Samajwadi Candidate Dimple Yadav to assure her massive victory in the Mainpuri by-election.“We have to follow Netaji’s ideals, Dimple Yadav is the daughter-in-law of Netaji, you have to make her win and support her like you did for Netaji,” said Shivpal Yadav.

Earlier, on November 17, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav paid a visit to their uncle Shivpal Yadav’s residence. Sharing the picture of their visit, Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “Blessings of Netaji and house’s elders, as well as the people of Mainpuri, are with us.”

Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple filed nomination papers as a Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat on November 14 as she looked to retain the constituency which fell vacant due to the demise of her father-in-law Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The by-polls for Mainpuri, considered a stronghold of SP, will be held on December 5 and the results will be declared on December 8.Dimple, 44, looks to win the Lok Sabha seat which has been with the Samajwadi Party since 1996.Elections in Mainpuri were necessitated after the death of SP patriarch, former CM and sitting MP Mulayam after a prolonged illness last month.

He was elected to the lower house of parliament from Mainpuri in 2019.The Election Commission of India declared a bye-election for the constituency on November 10. BJP has declared Raghuraj Singh Shakya as its candidate for the Mainpuri bypolls.

Raghuraj Singh Rajan was the Samajwadi party leader until he resigned in 2017 as sitting MLA, he joined BJP in February 2022.Political observers believe that it will be an uphill task for Dimple to win Mainpuri, where the BJP had put up a tough fight against Mulayam in the last general elections.

The SP patriarch had managed to register victory with a margin of just 94,000 votes when he fought the election in alliance with his arch-rival Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of Mayawati.

Dimple Yadav had earlier served as a Lok Sabha member from Kannauj for two terms. She unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections from Firozabad in 2009.In 2012, Akhilesh vacated his Kannauj seat for a legislative council seat and in the ensuing bypolls, Dimple was elected unopposed becoming the first female politician to achieve this feat. There are five Assembly seats in the Mainpuri parliamentary constituency –Mainpuri, Kishni, Karhal, Bhongaon, and Jaswant Nagar. In the last Assembly polls that took place earlier this year, the Samajwadi Party won Karhal, Kishni and Jaswant Nagar seats, while the ruling BJP emerged victorious in Mainpuri and Bhogaon.
