Aam Aadmi Party’s Manish Sisodia on Saturday reacted to the allegations of violation of jail laws made by the Bharatiya Janata Party after Delhi minister Satyendar Jain’s massage videos from Tihar went viral.  In its defence, the ruling party in Delhi said that Jain had two operations for his spine injury and the doctor has prescribed him regular physiotherapy.

“Satyendar Jain has had two operations for his spine-injury. The doctor has prescribed him regular physiotherapy. After Covid, there is a patch in his lungs which is not cured yet,” Sisodia said in a tweet. The very idea of making fun of a person’s illness and the treatment being given to him is disgusting, the Deputy CM added.

This comes after the BJP attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over CCTV videos that showed jailed minister Satyendar Jain receiving massage inside his jail cell.

Later at a press conference, he said, “BJP should read the jail manual before making baseless allegations. Inmates are not barred from meeting each other. He is living inside jail the way other inmates do.”

Earlier, a CCTV video of Satyendar Jain apparently getting a massage inside a Tihar jail cell went viral on the internet. Last month, the Enforcement Directorate had stated footage of Satyendar Jain, alleging that he was living a luxurious life at the jail, to a Delhi court.

The BJP on Saturday slammed Arvind Kejriwal over CCTV footage showing jailed minister Satyendar Jain receiving massage inside his jail cell in the Delhi government-run Tihar Jail.

Responding to the leaked videos, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya tweeted, “Despite being in jail for last five months, Satyendra Jain continues to be a minister in Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet. He has been provided a masseur, TV, bed, bottled water and all facilities, in gross violation of jail rules. Why would Kejriwal not sack him? What is he scared of?”

Congress leader Alka Lamba also reacted to the controversy. “AAP came on the promise of giving corruption-free governance. But a minister of the same party today was found enjoying five-star facilities inside the jail,” she said in a video message.

Earlier, AAP leader Satyendar Jain had been denied bail by a Delhi court on Thursday in a money laundering case, saying he was “prima facie” involved in concealing the “proceeds of crime”.

Meanwhile, a Tihar jail superintendent had been suspended for alleged involvement in providing special treatment to AAP minister Satyendar Jain who has been lodged in prison in a money laundering case.

On July 30 this year, the court had taken cognizance of the ED charge sheet against Jain, his wife and eight others, including four firms in connection with the hawala transactions.

Along with minister Jain, his wife Poonam, Vaibhav Jain, Ankush Jain, Ajit Prasad Jain and Sunil Jain including four private firms are named as accused under the money laundering act.

It had filed a prosecution complaint (charge sheet) naming the Delhi minister and others.
