PM Modi announced demonetisation of the 500 and 1000 currency notes on November 8, 2016

He said that the two banknotes will be "just worthless piece of paper," with immediate effect

Demonitisation's main goal was to stop the flow of fake currency and black money in market

While many have kept this as a “bold” move but some criticise this decision of govt

Instead of 1000 note, govt introduced the 2000 new note for better money flow in market

Currency with public is now over 70 percent higher than in comparison to that of the initial demonetisation period

Of the notes worth Rs 15.41 lakh crore that were invalidated, notes worth Rs 15.31 lakh crore returned to RBI.
