Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda had hatched the conspiracy.
Delhi Police Special Cell on Friday nabbed two persons, including a minor, who were allegedly involved in May 9 RPG (Rocket-Propelled Grenade) attack in Punjab Police’s Intelligence Unit headquarters in Mohali.
The accused minor was among those who opened fire at the headquarters from an open ground on May 9 evening. A CCTV camera grab has also surfaced in which he can be spotted walking near the headquarters.
Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal said Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda had hatched the conspiracy backed by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and local gangsters of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The arrested accused were tasked by Rinda to carry out the attack.
Minor, who is also a member of infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya and was given a task to launch a RPG at the headquarters. Over a dozen gangsters based in Punjab and Haryana, allegedly involved in RPG attack, have been arrested so far but this minor is the youngest one among them.
He and Arshdeep Singh were arrested from Gujarat’s Jamnagar area. Both are active members of Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhgawanpuria gangs.
With the arrest of Arshdeep Singh, police also claimed to have solved the case of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which was recovered from Kurukshetra in August this year. On August 4, the Special Task Force of the Haryana Police had recovered an IED packed with around 1.3 kg RDX near Shahabad in Kurukshetra district.
“With the arrest of the minor and Arshdeep, the unholy nexus between Rinda and Landa Harike has been exposed,” said Dhaliwal.
The apprehended minor has also disclosed he was given the task, along with absconding Deepak Surakhpur and Monu Dagar (in jail), by Lawrence Bishnoi to eliminate Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
The minor is being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and Arshdeep before the UAPA Court.
Further investigation is underway.
