DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand police promised action against a social media influencer after his video of consuming alcohol on the road and disrupting traffic went viral.

In the video, social media influencer Bobby Kataria, who calls himself ‘Robinhood of Gurugram’, was seen drinking on the road. His antics disrupt traffic at Kimadi Road in Dehradun.

Dalip Singh Kunwar, senior superintendent of police, Dehradun, said, “We have taken cognizance of the video and an investigation has been launched in the matter. Action will be taken in the matter under the ambit of the law.”

This was not the first brush with the law for Kataria. In 2017, the 34-year-old was arrested by Gurugram police for hurling abuses at the police department and calling them corrupt in his live video.

Commenting on the issue, Pradeep Kukreti, a statehood agitator, said, “We did not participate in the statehood movement to witness such vulgarity and anarchy in our Devbhoomi. This is unacceptable. Strict action must be taken so that such instances are not repeated.”
