DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand state health department will soon include mobile Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) vans that will be deployed for the ongoing awareness campaign about HIV/AIDS across the state.

“The ICTC vans will be used for testing, spreading awareness and counselling of HIV patients. Various programmes are being conducted in the state through the Uttarakhand AIDS Control Committee,” said Dhan Singh Rawat.

The special focus of the campaign will be slum areas, prisons and industrial areas of the hill state.

Workers in industrial units, migrants living in remote areas, groups with high-risk behavior, drivers on remote routes, and prisoners detained in slum areas will all be examined and counselled as part of special campaigns.

These vans will have consultants, lab technicians, attendants and drivers who will go to different districts of the state to make people aware of the prevention of HIV/AIDS besides examining suspected patients.

This campaign is being conducted under the supervision of the Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Committee in collaboration with various organizations, in which more than 6000 people have already been examined and counselled across the state.
