Delhi Reports Fourth Case Of Monkeypox

NEW DELHI: Delhi reported one more case of monkeypox disease on Wednesday. This time a woman from Nigeria was found to be positive.

This was the third case of the monkeypox virus in the national capital. It was also the ninth such case reported in the country.

Earlier, two more Nigerian and one Indian have been detected with monkeypox virus in Delhi.

The woman, in her early 30s, complained of fever and rashes after which her sample was collected. It turned out to be positive for the monkeypox virus when examined.

Presently, the woman is admitted to LNJP hospital and under the observation of doctors.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared the Monkeypox virus a global health emergency. Over 16,000 cases have been reported across the globe, so far.

Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease with similar symptoms to smallpox, with less clinical severity. It is caused by human transmission.
