UDAIPUR:
Accusing the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan of doing vote bank politics, Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat slammed the Rajasthan government for deteriorating law and order conditions in the state.

Shekhawat, who met the family members of Udaipur Horror victim Kanhaiya Lal Teli, also said that the people of Rajasthan are smart enough and they will give them a befitting reply.

Speaking to media outside the residence of Teli, Shekhawat said, “The way in which Kanhaiya Lal was killed brutally, not only Udaipur, but the entire nation was shocked. The entire country wants to question the Rajasthan Police why they had ignored his appeals for security after the threats. Why did the Rajasthan Police, without any evidence, arrest him and kept him in the police station.”

“Even after his release the police only gave oral assurances instead of providing him security despite him getting threats,” the BJP leader said.

Shekhawat alleged that the police also forced Teli to install a CCTV camera and then he was killed. “The district administration and the police, and the Rajasthan government, is responsible,” the BJP leader said.

Hinting at a bigger conspiracy, Shekhawat, who hails from Rajasthan, said, “He (Teli) might have been killed by the assailants but the police are also responsible for his murder. The NIA has started probing the case. The killers’ Pakistan connection, which has come up in the probe, clearly shows that it is part of a bigger planned conspiracy.”

Hitting out at the state government for worrying about the vote bank, he said that the kind of mindset that is coming in Rajasthan needs to be found that who are giving them shelter and helping them. “A holistic probe is required so that such a mindset is killed before it spreads further. We have been warning for a long but the state government kept on releasing the accused,” he said.

“The accused had threatened to kill Kanhaiya in front of the police. It was all done for vote bank politics. And the people will give a befitting reply to those in power. It is due to the failure of the government that a simple man was killed and even today the family fears for its security,” he rued.

When asked about similar incidents in other parts of the country, Shekhawat said, “That has to be taken care and the matter needs to be investigated that whosoever is supporting and provoking this kind of mindset is to be identified and punished.”

To the question of Teli’s murder accused’s relations with the BJP, Shekhawat said, “They must look at themselves before questioning others. And they, for the vote bank politics, by accusing others will not be able to wash their hands. Those whose hands are in the blood must not put such allegations on others.”

“Rajasthan has now become a crime capital. The government should look at itself,” he added.
