BJP national president JP Nadda visited the residence of the legendary Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in Chinsurah on Wednesday.

NEW DELHI: On the first day of his two-day Bengal visit, Bharatiya Janata Party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda spoke about the rich history of Bengal.

Addressing the inaugural session of the BJP Bengal executive meeting at National Library on Wednesday, Nadda said, “Whenever I speak of Bengal the freedom fighters and the culture of Bengal come to my mind. The motivation of such a place provides a different sort of energy. Forgetting Raja Rammohan Roy, Sri Aurobindo is like forgetting one’s own roots.”

“You should understand how to go first. Not to be outdone. Having the opportunity to join the BJP means you have received the gift of God,” addressed Nadda.

Reemphasizing his party’s stand against dynastic politics, the former Union health and family welfare minister claimed that almost all regional outfits in the country, including the “aunt-nephew party” of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), have become family-run organisations. “Regional parties are being run by dynastic politics and they also pursue it,” Nadda said.

TMC has leaders but no policies. There are syndicates running in the name of party workers. In Bengal, it is aunt and nephew, he said.

Nadda also attacked the Congress party over “dynasty politics” and said that the country is now ‘Congress lupt’ and not just ‘Congress mukt’.

“Nobody thought that (former UP CM) Mulayam Singh’s rule will go, nobody thought we will be Congress Mukt. In fact, we’re now Congress lupt (disappear), let alone be Congress mukt (free). We’ll form a government in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh too,” Nadda said.

On Thursday, the second day of his visit, Nadda will go for a brief visit to Belur Math before commencing the crucial interaction with MP/MLA/state office-bearers at Westin at 11 am.

The Party president will also attain Karyakarta Sammelan (Zila/Mandal/Morcha) at the Science City auditorium and Nagrik Sammelan at Kala Mandir.
