NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has reportedly lodged a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) in connection with allegations against BJP leader Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma. He is accused of violating the model code of conduct by allegedly distributing sarees, cash, and shoes.

The Returning Officer of the New Delhi Assembly Constituency on Wednesday wrote to the SHO of Mandir Marg Police Station, urging them to lodge an FIR and initiate an immediate investigation into a complaint against Verma.

The complaint alleges that Verma has been distributing shoes to voters within the premises of the Valmiki Temple near Mandir Marg Police Station, an act perceived as a potential violation of the election code of conduct. This has sparked a major controversy during the ongoing Delhi elections.

AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj commented on the matter on X, stating:
“Out of fear of Kejriwal, BJP is distributing shoes, sarees, and money. If only they had spread love, they wouldn’t have needed to beg for votes.”

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also criticized Verma, claiming he wants to be disqualified, but the Election Commission is reluctant to take action.

Responding to Kejriwal’s remarks, Verma posted on X:
*”The Supreme Court has already disqualified accused @ArvindKejriwal.
Conditions of Kejriwal’s bail from Tihar:

Kejriwal cannot enter the Delhi Secretariat. If he does, he goes back to jail.
Kejriwal cannot enter the CM’s office. If he does, he goes back to jail.
Kejriwal cannot sign any government files. If he does, he goes back to jail.
Kejriwal cannot meet any officials. If he does, he goes back to jail.
This means Kejriwal can never become Chief Minister again in this lifetime.
So, who will be the CM face of Aam Aadmi Party?
Amanatullah Khan?
Or Imran Hussain?”*

Delhi Police officers have stated that they are looking into the matter.
