PATNA/SRINAGAR: Two members of a pan-India espionage and fake currency (FICN) network were apprehended in separate operations in Bihar and Kashmir, according to official sources. The arrests, made on Wednesday and Thursday, were the result of coordinated efforts between multiple agencies and police forces.
Mohd Nazar Saddam, from Bhagalpur, Bihar, was arrested by East Champaran Police near Raxaul, along the Indo-Nepal border, with counterfeit currency worth ₹1.8 lakh, sources said. The operation was overseen by East Champaran Superintendent of Police, Kantesh Kumar, IPS.

On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested Muzaffar Ahmed Wani, alias Sarfaraz, of Anantnag, who, according to officials, is believed to be a key figure in the espionage network. Sources revealed that Wani had been under surveillance by Military Intelligence (MI) for several months due to his links with Pakistani intelligence agencies and his leadership over Saddam.
The network is suspected to be involved in espionage and circulating fake currency across India. Officials added that a previous attempt to capture members of this network near Raxaul had been unsuccessful, but renewed efforts led to these recent arrests.
The case is under investigation, and further arrests are expected, official sources confirmed. The operation is being seen as a major setback to anti-India activities orchestrated from across the border.
