NEW DELHI: With just 43 days left until the Paris Olympics, Indian athletes are intensifying their preparations for what promises to be a historic event. After a record-breaking 124-athlete contingent at Tokyo 2020, India aims to achieve double-digit medal wins at Paris 2024. Excitement is palpable among fans and athletes as they gear up for this prestigious global competition.

In archery, Dhiraj Bommadevara will represent India in the Recurve Men’s category, aiming to leave a significant impact. Athletics boasts a formidable lineup, particularly in men’s events. Murali Sreeshankar will compete in the long jump, while the javelin throw will feature Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena. The men’s 20km racewalk will include Akshdeep Singh, Vikas Singh, Paramjeet Bisht, and Ram Baboo. Priyanka Goswami will participate in the women’s 20km racewalk, with Parul Chaudhary aiming for success in the 3000m steeplechase.

Badminton enthusiasts can look forward to Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy in men’s singles, alongside PV Sindhu in women’s singles. The men’s doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, along with the women’s doubles duo of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa, are poised for top honors on the court.

In boxing, Amit Panghal (51kg) and Nishant Dev (71kg) will represent India in the men’s categories, while the women’s contingent includes Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), and Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), all striving for glory in their respective weight classes.

Shooting, a traditional stronghold for India, will see strong participation across events such as 10m air rifle, 50m rifle 3-position, 10m air pistol, 25m pistol, trap, and skeet, promising a robust medal haul.

Table tennis will feature a strong Indian presence with Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Manav Thakkar on the men’s team, and Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, and Archana Kamath representing the women’s team, all prepared to showcase their best at the Olympic stage.

As India rallies behind its athletes, anticipation grows for what could potentially be a historic Olympics, with hopes soaring high for a record-breaking medal tally.
