From Ex-MLAs To Mandal-level Leaders: Over 221 Opposition Leaders Embrace YSRCP During Memantha Siddham Yatra
KADAPPA: In a huge shot in the arm for the YSRCP, an army of Opposition leaders have dumped their current parties to join hands with CM Jagan, days before the upcoming polls. This trend, evident since the commencement of the Memantha Siddham yatra on March 27 from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, not only strengthens YSRCP’s position but also signals an evident Jagan wave in 2024. With this huge influx of leaders happening so close to the elections, the Opposition finds itself in a vulnerable position with little time for damage control.
Over the past 18 days, since the beginning of the bus yatra, over 138 top leaders from Opposition parties including TDP, Jana Sena, BJP and the Congress have pledged their allegiance to the YSRCP in the presence of CM Jagan, solidifying the party’s stronghold not just in certain packets but across the state. But, what’s more important to note here is that over 1,05,000 grassroots activists working at the Panchayat / Ward level too have joined the YSRCP in the last 35 odd days. As the people of Andhra Pradesh firmly support the CM, the leaders’ inductions underline the party’s growing influence across the spectrum.

Vijayawada and Guntur
Tearing down TDP on their home turf, Vijayawada and Guntur regions saw a surge in defections to YSRCP. Notably, 23 leaders from Vijayawada and 16 leaders from Guntur have joined YSRCP. Among them are prominent figures such as TDP State Party Secretary – Pendurthi Srinivasa Rao, NTR District TDP Minority Cell President – S.K. Karimulla, NTR District TDP Professional Wing General Secretary – Waseem Akram, and former Corporator and TDP Minority State Leader – Nazeer Hussain. Additionally, in Guntur, State BJP Vice President – Chandhu Sambasiva Rao also joined YSRCP.
Kadapa and Kurnool
Kadapa and Kurnool districts also saw some significant joinings, with 18 and 17 leaders joining the party district leadership respectively. Notable among these are former TDP MLA – Kotha Kota Prakash Reddy, former TDP MLC – Masala Padmaja, and TDP State Legal Cell President – Jeevan Singh, who all joined YSRCP in the presence of CM Jagan.
Kakinada
Makinidu Seshu Kumari from Pithapuram, Pithani Balakrishna from Mummidivaram, Shettibattula Rajababu from Amalapuram, former MLC Lakshmi Sivakumari from Anguri, Bonthu Rajeswara Rao from Rajolu, and former Janasena Incharge Meda Gurudatta Prasad from Rajanagaram are among the notable Jana Sena leaders who have joined YSRCP from Kakinada district.
Nellore
Additionally, Jana Sena Nellore District President Chenna Reddy Manukrant Reddy joined the party today (April 19) in the presence of CM Jagan.

Other Prominent Joinings
Besides this, former Rayachoti MLA – Ramesh Reddy, former Kalyandurg MLA – Uma Maheshwar Naidu, former Kadiri MLA – Chand Basha, former MLA contestant from Kodumur – Kotla Hari Chakrapani Reddy, former MLA contestant from Puthalapttu – Lalitha Kumari Thomas, former MLA contestant from Nellore – Harikrishna, JSP Nellore District President – Manukranth Reddy, former Kavali MLA – Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, former Peddapuram candidate- Thota Subba Rao Naidu, former Municipal Chairman from Prathipadu – Pyla Bose and 2019 JSP candidate from Gurazala – Chintalpudi Srinivas Rao are some of the other prominent figures who joined YSRCP during the Memantha Siddham Yatra.
As the CM traverses through each district, the number of leaders wanting to join the YSRCP continue to increase. While the Opposition is flustered, given the current momentum, Jagan wave 2024 is evident and achieving 175/175 seats seems like a target within reach.
_”The massive number of joinings into YSRCP has left Chandrababu Naidu and the entire Opposition visibly shaken. In fact, frustrated by these inductions, Naidu instructed his cadre to throw stones at CM Jagan to bring him down at a public rally in Tadikonda on April 13, and a few minutes later, CM Jagan was attacked in Vijayawada City. YSRCP believes that this is nothing but a stark reflection of the fear of CM Jagan’s ever-growing popularity not just among the people on the ground, but also among the top brass across parties.
