New Delhi: In light of the current volatile situation in the region, the Indian government has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to refrain from traveling to Iran or Israel until further notice. The advisory, dated April 12, 2024, comes amidst escalating tensions and security concerns in both countries.
Travel advisory for Iran and Israel by MEA stated, “Given the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice. All those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel are requested to get in touch with Indian Embassies there and register themselves.” Additionally, MEA stated they are urged to exercise utmost caution regarding their safety and limit their movements to essential activities only. The move comes amidst escalating tensions between the two nations, with fears of an imminent strike looming large.
This advisory follows a series of recent developments, including the United States imposing travel restrictions on its embassy personnel in Israel due to fears of a potential attack by Iran. The heightened alert underscores the gravity of the situation in the region and the need for vigilance among all stakeholders.

As tensions continue to escalate and the security situation remains fluid, the Indian government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad. The heightened alert follows Iran’s threat of retaliation, holding Israel responsible for a recent strike on its consulate in Syria, claiming the lives of 13 individuals. As per reports, the anticipated attack from Iran could materialize as early as Friday, with projections indicating a substantial assault involving over 100 drones, along with cruise and potentially ballistic missiles targeting military installations across Israel.
While Israel has not formally acknowledged its involvement in the Syrian consulate attack, it is widely speculated to have orchestrated the strike. Iran’s allegiance to various militant groups in the region, including Hamas and Hezbollah, has further intensified concerns of potential reprisals against Israeli interests.
