NEW DELHI: UP deputy chief minister Keshav Maurya on Wednesday kicked a storm after he publicly announced on his personal Twitter account that Mathura is the next destination to witness a construction of shrine, in what is being seen as ratification for demand to install install Bal idol of Lord Krishna at Shahi Idgah, which is considered to be the birthplace of Hindu God.
Maurya tweeted in Hindi that translates into English that “while Ayodhya and Varanasi are ready, we should now expect the same thing in Mathura”.
His comments seem to have given much needed fillip to the BJP at a time when UP elections are just three months away.
His comments also assume significance as last week Mathura Police had said that action would be taken any organisation that has announced to hold a foot march and a programme at Eidgah site.
On November 16, Rajyashree Choudhary, the grand niece of Subhash Chandra Bose and the national president of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha had held a press conference in Mathura to announced that Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Parishad has decided to install the idol.
Maurya, who holds the public works department (PWD) porfolio, in August had taken direct barbs at Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying he his government has decided to honour the kar sevaks who were ‘martyred’ for the cause of the Ram Temple.
“The Samajwadi Party government mercilessly shot Ram Bhakts who had collected in Ayodhya for the Ram temple. Our government will commemorate the sacrifice of all those who died in the police action on October 30 and then November 2 of 1990,” he had said
He also told The New Indian that he met Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari over construction of Chaurasi Kosi Marg that is being built at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore.
“Entry to Ayodhya which is being called Chaurasi Kosi Marg National Highway will pass through five districts. The Baal Kand of Ramayana mentions Ayodhya as Koshaldesh,” Maurya told The New Indian.
