NEW DELHI: Mangaluru International Airport authorities initiated a large-scale search operation following a threatening email received on Wednesday.
The email, purportedly sent by a self-professed terrorist group named ‘Funing’ claimed the presence of hidden explosives inside one of the planes and within the airport premises. The ominous message, originating from ‘[email protected],’ warned of imminent detonations in a few hours.

It said, “There are explosives inside of one of your planes. But also inside of your airport. The explosives are well hidden, and they will go off in a few hours. I will kill you all.” The email came to the attention of airport authorities on Wednesday morning, prompting them to notify the Mangaluru Police.
Subsequently, the authorities initiated a search operation at Mangaluru International Airport. Despite hours of searching, the police found nothing suspicious. Mangalore Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal addressed the media and highlighted the reinforcement of security outside the airport. Additional checkpoints were established, and authorities conducted thorough anti-sabotage and bomb checks within the airport premises.

A police complaint has been officially filed for the incident. This occurrence follows a recent incident earlier this month when numerous schools in Bengaluru received threatening emails claiming the presence of bombs. Following evacuations, extensive searches were conducted, but no evidence was found. Eventually, it was revealed that the emails were a false alarm.
