TADEPALLI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that beneficiaries of the YSR Aarogyasri scheme would be eligible for free medical treatment to Rs 25 lakhs.
The decision to implement the scheme was taken at a review meeting held at the Camp Office in Tadepalli on Wednesday. scheme is slated to be implemented from December 18.
Reddy directed the Medical and Health Department officials to let all Aarogyasri cardholders avail of free medical treatment under the scheme, expressing that it was the government’s responsibility to extend public welfare. “Officials should give an assurance to people that any eligible person who needs medical treatment for any ailment can avail it free of cost up to Rs 25 lakh under Aarogyasri,” the CM said.

He highlighted that the scheme had been enhanced on “humanitarian grounds”. “The government has enhanced the free medical treatment limit to Rs 25 lakh on humanitarian grounds. Officials should act with responsibility in extending the benefit to necessary people with a humanistic approach to implement the historic decision,” Reddy said.
According to the directive sent out by the CM, MLAs in the state would commence on follow-up programmes across villages in each constituency from December 19.

Health Department officials are presently planning to distribute all of the new Aarogyasri cards by the end of January. Additionally, public awareness campaigns are also slated to be launched where ANMs, CHOs, and ASHA workers, would participate too. The Public Service Announcement video is slated to be made available to all the volunteers.
As a heartfelt gesture for their contribution, CM Jagan directed the officials to construct residential quarters for all the specialist doctors working in Government hospitals and taking part in this unparalleled healthcare service.
Announcing the announcement, Reddy directed the officials to conduct one Suraksha camp in rural areas and one camp in a ward in urban areas every week.

“The treatment facilities being made available in Palasa should also be made available in the medical college at Markapuram. Doctors should support kidney patients by conducting necessary tests and extending treatment. The Urology department should also be established along with Nephrology sections in all new medical colleges,” the Chief Minister stated.
Additionally, CM Jagan announced that the Government would provide Rs 300 as reimbursement to Aarogyasri patients when they go to doctors again for follow-up consultations. Similarly, patients identified in the Jagananna Arogya Suraksha scheme would be provided Rs 500 each to visit hospitals.
