9 inmates injured in Kupwara jail gas cylinder explosion

SRINAGAR: Seven inmates were injured and two critically injured following a gas cylinder explosion inside Kupwara Jail in North Kashmir on Wednesday. According to reports, the injured were immediately taken to a local hospital.

The blast occurred in the kitchen of the district jail in north Kashmir, an official stated. The seven injured inmates were transported to a hospital, with five of them later being referred to a hospital in Srinagar.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident, the official added.

The injured inmates have been identified as Syed Tawseef Gilani of Tangdhar, Shahjahan Shah of Dangarpora Sopore, Jameel Ahmad of Tangdhar, Ashiq Hussain Teli of Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad Bhat of Amargarh Sopore, Ghulam Rasool War of Gonipora Kupwara, Javid Ahmad Bhat of Barsoo Ganderbal, Hilal Ahmad Malik of Sopore, and Javid Ahmad Malla of Arin Bandipora.
