JAMMU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the NC-Congress coalition of destabilising Jammu and Kashmir by seeking the release of those linked to terrorism activities.
Speaking at a rally in Jammu ahead of the Assembly elections, Shah expressed concerns over attempts to revive unrest. “The NC and Congress want to release stone throwers. They aim to fuel violence in areas like Rajouri and Poonch. We have imprisoned those causing trouble. They want to resume cross-border trade, but who gains from it?” he said.
Shah accused the NC-Congress alliance and PDP of pushing the region back towards conflict. “Three families have exploited J&K. If the NC and Congress win, terrorism will return. Jammu must choose wisely. Under BJP, terror won’t resurface,” he declared, adding that peace must be restored before any dialogue with Pakistan resumes.
The Home Minister also warned that the NC-Congress alliance seeks to strip Jammu of its rights by reintroducing regional autonomy, which he firmly opposes.
Addressing BJP workers, Shah highlighted the historical importance of the upcoming election, noting it would be the first under the national flag, following the abrogation of Article 370. “No one will dare mention autonomy again,” he vowed.
Shah also attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of misleading voters with promises of restoring statehood. “Rahul Gandhi claims he will bring back statehood. But only the Union government, under PM Modi, can make that decision,” he emphasized.
Additionally, Shah accused the opposition of trying to rename historical landmarks and deny reservation rights to certain communities, pledging to prevent these efforts.

During a two-day trip to Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Shah introduced the party’s agenda on Friday, declaring that Article 370 is now a thing of the past and will never be reinstated.
Jammu and Kashmir’s 90-seat legislature will be elected in three stages. The first round of voting will occur on September 18, followed by additional rounds on September 25 and October 1. The final count will take place on October 8.
