Amid the Air India urination row, two drunken men from Bihar have been arrested for misbehaving and assaulting employees of IndiGo airline on board a Delhi-Patna flight.

According to police officials, three men of a group boarded IndiGo’s 6E-6383 flight in an inebriated condition at the Delhi airport on Sunday and created ruckus following an argument with some co-passengers.

When a female crew member tried to pacify them, they allegedly misbehaved and threatened her, boasting their affiliation with a powerful political leader. When the flight captain intervened, they allegedly assaulted him mid-air.

The accused have been identified as Rohit Kumar, Nitin Kumar and Pintoo Kumar.

According to local media reports, they are said to be close to the national head of a Bihar-based party currently part of the state government.

After the commotion, the pilot informed the Airport Authority of India and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which guards crucial industrial enterprises in the country.

They were nabbed by CISF personnel upon landing at the Patna airport based on a complaint filed by the flight captain. However, Pintoo managed to escape.

The incident came days after an executive of a multi-national company was arrested for peeing on an elderly woman co-passenger on board an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi.

Shankar Mishra is accused of over drinking liquor served by crew members and urinating on the woman.

Last year, a video of an altercation between a passenger and one of the crew members of IndiGo’s Istanbul-Delhi flight went viral on social media.

In October 2022, IndiGo staff was accused of behaving in a boorish manner with ace Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraj, who alleged that he was asked for a “hefty amount” for the excess baggage which contained medals won by the athlete.

In a similar incident, Indian para-swimmer Shams Aalam too had to face gross disrespect on behalf of IndiGo airlines. The 35-year-old had represented India at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
